
Alex Collins, former Seahawks and Ravens, has passed away at the age of 28
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) – Former NFL running back Alex Collins, who played five seasons in the NFL Seattle Seahawks And Baltimore Crows After a great college life in Arkansas, he died. He was 28 years old.
The Seahawks released a statement from the Collins family Monday night.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing this morning of our beloved Alex Collins,” the statement said. “Alex was cherished by his family and friends as well as his supporters from around the world. Everyone who truly knows him can attest to his leadership, determination, and larger-than-life personality. Please kindly send your thoughts and prayers for our family at this difficult time.”
Arkansas, Ravens and the NFL also announced Collins’ death. They did not provide a reason.
Collins rushed for over 1,000 yards in all three of his seasons at Arkansas from 2013 to 2015. He is second to Darren McFadden on the school’s career rushing list, and was a part of One of the most memorable plays in recent SEC history in 2015 in Mississippi.
The Razorbacks were down by seven in overtime and faced fourth-and-25. Brandon AllenComplete was passed to Hunter Henry, who was about to be tackled near the sideline, did not gain the goal line. Henry desperately flicked the ball back towards the middle of the field. The ball rebounded to Collins, who sprinted to the other sideline and fell first.
Arkansas eventually won, 53-52.
“We are deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Alex Collins. He was a legendary Razorback and an even better person,” the Arkansas football account posted on social media. “His love for the Razorbacks and his desire to be a pig was undeniable. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Collins played three seasons with the Seahawks and two with the Ravens. He rushed for 973 yards for Baltimore in 2017.
“Alex was a joy to be around and someone who shone with a bright light,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a statement. “I will always remember him for being an amazing teammate who had an uplifting spirit that affected everyone he faced. He was also an intelligent player who ran with unbounded determination, and he contributed so much to the game.” Our success during his time in Baltimore.”
This year Collins played for the Memphis Showboats of the USFL.
