Cooper Flagg Reclassifies to High School Class of 2024, Eligible for 2025 NBA Draft

Flagg, a 6-foot-8 forward from Newport, Maine, was among the top three players in the 2025 recruiting class and is now ready First place in the class of 2024along with guards Dylan Harper and Trey Johnson.
Rumors about Flagg’s reclassification hit the AAU scene in May on Nike’s EYBL circuit as Flagg dominated competition in the 16-under division. Flagg, who plays for Maine United, became the first player ever to score more than 50 points during an EYBL game in April, and has been on the radars of NBA scouts since he burst onto the scene last summer. Flagg capped his final summer in AAU basketball with a dominant performance, averaging 25.4 points, 13 rebounds, 6.8 blocks and 5.7 assists per game during Nike’s Peach Jam. He was named MVP of the NBPA Top 100 Camp and participated in Jayson Tatum’s Jordan Brand Camp, Stephen Curry’s SC Select Camp and is currently in Oregon for the Nike Skills Academy.
Flag Recently visited Duke’s, with the Blue Devils favoring five-star recruits. Other participating programs include UConn, Kansas, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, Villanova, and West Virginia.
Flagg’s twin brother Ace had a great summer and saw his rebound after a stellar run at Peach Jam, averaging 15 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists, as Maine United reached the semi-finals.
“It’s great that we’re playing together,” Ace Flagg told Yahoo Sports. “We have a good connection on the field, obviously, so it’s easy to play together and I always know where he wants the ball and vice versa. We grew up competing against each other and that’s what pushed us to be better players.”
Cooper is now an early favorite as the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft as scouts have already made him a priority the past two years. At age 16, with his birthday on December 21, he will meet the age requirements for the NBA draft and not have to play two years in college. Flagg is the best rim guard in high school basketball, no matter the class, and is a natural to the game, having improved his shooting from behind the arc this summer.
