Rachel Brown-Venice predicts all results including England v Colombia
There are only eight teams left in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and they are all dreaming of glory in the Final at Stadium Australia in Sydney on August 20.
England is one of them, but will the Lionesses continue their progress when they face Colombia in the quarter-finals?
BBC Sport’s football expert Rachel Brown-Fiennes predicts the outcome of all 64 matches in the tournament.
She correctly guessed the outcome of all eight of her round-of-16 ties, and 27 of her 48 group matches, giving her a success rate of 63% in the tournament.
Prior to the tournament, it selected eight of the 16 teams that qualified for the first knockout stage, including England, who it believed would win the World Cup.

Friday 11th August
Spain 2-1 Netherlands (after extra time)
This World Cup is wide open. All eight remaining teams will think they can win it from here, and every quarter-final will be extremely close.
Spain have scored a lot of goals so far in this tournament, but I really admire the Netherlands’ overall play.
Both are in good condition.
I see it goes a long way, as the Dutch had the upper hand in overtime.
Brown Venice prediction: 0-1 after extra time
Japan 1-2 Sweden
This was the hardest draw.
Japan have free goals and probably play the freest football we have seen in this tournament.
But after seeing how deep Sweden went past the United States in the last 16, I have a feeling they’ll find a way to win this match, too.
There is only one area where Sweden excels – they have a very comprehensive height advantage, and I think their ability to score from set pieces will prove to be the difference.
Brown Venice prediction: 1-2
Saturday 12th August
Australia – France (Brisbane, 08:00)
I’m in Sydney and there’s a lot of fuss about the Matildas – everyone is walking around in Australian jerseys and the city’s fan zone for the last-round Denmark match was absolutely shocked. It’ll be exactly the same for this tie-in, which takes place Saturday night, local time.
The atmosphere here is incredible and I hope to see Australia win, just like that.
It will be very close, but I think Kaitlin Forward will win a penalty and Stephanie Catley will put that away for the hosts. Sam Kerr will be back again too, and she just has to score at some point in her home championship – this game would be a good time for that to happen.
Brown Venice prediction: 2-1 after extra time
England v Columbia (Sydney, 11:30 a.m.)
Getting to the Australia v England semi-final would be great – I refuse to buy my kids’ Australia jerseys just in case.
People are starting to doubt England, but this is the game where I think they will go out and play beautiful football and get into a groove.
However, it will be very close and there are many personal battles all over the field that will help define it.
I’m especially looking forward to Lucy Bronze against Linda Caicedo on the right flank for England, and Millie Bright against Catalina Usmi in the middle.
Colombia are a good team and they will certainly create some chances – they switch plays very effectively with diagonal balls and are very dangerous with their headers.
But Marie Erbis kept three clean sheets and only conceded from the penalty spot – during the group stage victory over China and the penalty shootout victory over Nigeria in the final round – and she won’t concede here either.
Brown Venice prediction: 1-0
