Five star edge Colin Simmonsone of the biggest downhill racers in the country, heads out Thursday afternoon to Texas Live on the 247Sports YouTube channel. Simmons chose the Longhorns over top rival LSU, as next-door neighbors battled for a Top 247 five-star ranked among standout defensemen and 27th overall regardless of position in the top tier.

In Simmons, Texas gets a defensive weapon with potential impact. Simmons combines snappy snapping and athleticism off the edge with the feel of a passer rush evident in his ability to counteract and project a secondary rush. On Duncanville’s 2022 Class 6A Division I State Championship team, Simmons compiled 79 tackles, including 33 for loss and 22.5 sacks—a Duncanville school record. He has recorded 34.5 sacks over the past two seasons.

Simmons immediately claims first place in the 2024 class is already best in Texas. He’s the first true fullback to commit to the Longhorns in this tournament, but he joins a few true defensive linemen in high three-star prospects.
